Who Really Plays Lottery Games? (Answer May Surprise You!)
I just discovered an unusual story in a woman's magazine (yes, I read anything and everything!)...
The wife of one of the richest men in our country buys a weekly lotto ticket.
Socialite and philanthropist Rosie Horton admitted to getting the ticket each week from her local store, and once won $3,000. "It doesn't seem fair, does it!" she laughed.
She meant that the money should have gone to someone more deserving.
But it brought up an interesting fact...
According to a research report from Camelot - Britain's main lottery company - millionaires are far more likely to buy tickets in their national lottery than less well-off people.
What? That's a skewed surprise.
Why would a millionaire want to increase their wealth this way? Haven't they got enough money already?
But this also reveals something else about the rich...
Millionaires don't get rich by being stupid.
They see that there's a real opportunity to get tax-free cash from the lottery, and they go for it.
If they think lotto is a great deal, then so should we.
Make sense?
Here's something else about the British and their playing habits, according to the survey:
- Around 70% of adults in Britain play the lottery regularly.
Since their population is around 60 million right now, that's around 40 million... a lot of people each week. It's about the same proportion of players in many other western countries too.
- Millionaire winners are more likely to hide the fact they have won the lottery.
They normally pretend they have got an inheritance, or received a large business bonus.
- The luckiest place in Britain to buy a lottery ticket is Essex, if you're ever there. (Just thought I'd throw that in for you!)
