The Amazing Comeback For Tiger Woods, And The Lottery Winning Lessons You Can Learn From It

Tiger Woods seems to have broken his losing streak that lasted a couple of years. He won something quite big yesterday. (No, I can't be bothered looking it up, I just know from the headlines he did well).

His father had taught him well. Since starting at the age of three, Tiger was well advanced in that sport by the time he reached his teens through constant and unending 'doing.'

And we all know the rest of his success story.

There are two lessons we can take from his tv demonstration and apply to winning the lottery:

#1. You can never start too early.

Do You Have These 6 Success Traits? And Do You Need Them To Win Lotto?

My Lottery Winning Lesson From A Near-Death Helicopter Flight

I was going to die, but I didn't feel any fear.

A thousand feet below the sea stretched out past the beach with its jagged rocks. The white surf crashed noiselessly against them. The sky was blue and calm.

It looked so pretty, yet in less than a minute it could all be taken away from me.

Above my head the helicopter's rotors whirled in slow motion, creating a flap-flap shutter effect against the sun.

The pedals of the chopper were bucking against my feet so violently I couldn't keep my feet on them.

A warning klaxon whooped incessantly and I was being flung against my harness like a rag doll as the Robinson R22 shook like crazy.

The ground was approaching fast. 

It didn't look good. I just hoped the end would be quick.

My journey to disaster started with the training session at the hangar an hour before. I had about 30 hours so far on the helicopter, was solo already for about 15 hours.

And this flight we were going to practice autorotating... gliding with the power off.

That's when the chopper shuts down and glides to a landing with the blades acting like a sycamore leaf... gently spiraling safely to earth. 

Except - not gently, nor safely this time.

The instructor had told me what to do, but neglected one single point that was to be my downfall.

When I was to push the collective stick down - the one that makes the chopper go up and down - I needed to leave the throttle in the same position.

But I instinctively rolled it off when I dropped the stick, shutting down the engine to idle.

This slowed the blades right down to almost a stall. It was one of the most dangerous mistakes you could make. 

And I never knew about it.

There was hardly enough lift to keep the small copter in the air, and we started dropping like a stone.

The blade shaft started whacking against the tall pylon that supported it, and the eggbeater motion was shaking the aircraft like an out-of-balance washing machine.

We had to do something fast to recover, but I had no experience. It was all up to my tutor.

The instructor moved quickly. I could feel his hand wind the throttle to rev up the engine. I took my hands off the controls. Out of the corner of my eye I could see him wrestling to bring the shaking chopper under control.

It seemed hopeless. How could you recover a flying machine that didn't have any wings?

But someone was watching over us that day.

The rotors sped up, the horn stopped. And we leveled out - a mere 50 feet above the ground.

He landed it quickly on the grass and shut the engine down.

As the rotors slowed to a halt, I can't remember saying anything to him. There were no words to say.

He got out and wordlessly we inspected the damage. The pylon was slightly buckled from the impact of the shaft.

"I think it will still fly," he said after a through inspection, and called base.

The rest of the afternoon was a blur as another chopper flew in from the airport close by. 

My instructor flew the Robinson slowly, low across the sea, as we flew above him in the other helicopter - in case there was any problem. It was OK.

We met again the hangar office later than afternoon. "I'm going to have a whisky," he grinned, "care to join me?"

I wasn't traumatized, but I thought a drink would probably not help so I refused politely and went home.

You'd be right if you thought I would never fly again after that life-threatening experience.

But you're wrong. 

Next week we were back in the air as if nothing had happened. And I went on to gain the hours I needed for my license.

The lesson I learned was - to persist. 

Even when you have the worst nightmare experience in the world, you need to keep on going.

Same with the lottery. Some weeks your game could be like this accident... your money lost, winnings light, little hope.

But then - if you have the right spirit and are persistent - the next week may reap a windfall that astounds you:

The best way to improve your odds is by playing the lowest ball and number combinations.

I'll explain a little more...

Even though I have developed systems for high jackpot games like PowerBall, it's still true that low numbers of balls and low numbers give better odds.

For example, in some games like the Illinois Little Lotto, you can happily use the Silver Lotto System to play their low 5 ball, 39 number game, if you're in that State.

Not only is Little Lotto just $1 a game - but it has very low odds of around 1:142,506 for the main jackpot prize of over $100,000.

That gives very good odds indeed, even though the main prize is not that high.

6 Facts About Short People: Whether They Win The Lottery Like Tall People

"What do you mean you're going to write about being a short person?" demanded my wife. "You're not short."

I reminded her that at 5'8" - in some other countries, and America in particular... the land of giants - I was indeed short. And getting shorter as I aged. 

There may come a time, I said, when that article might have to be written about me as a dwarf.

Over the years I've leaned a lot about short people, and there are some interesting twists I'll reveal here. 

But there's one feature that makes short folk no different to anyone else.

Before I tell you, let me list some the things that I've learnt:

# As a short person, you should always take care of your lower set of teeth first if you want to make a good impression. That's because many other people will be looking down at you when you meet them, and the condition of your bottom teeth is going to be more important.

# Short people will appear taller if they dress in similar colors top and bottom. (However I now believe that's a myth, because most people have almost a sixth sense about size and shape. You can't fool them if you try and dress in black to look thinner, because they will see right past your disguise). But dressing in one color, or close shades of it, will make a few people wonder at times. Look at my photo beside my Aston Martin on my website to see I follow that philosophy.

# Short people should NEVER appear next to tall people. Either in photos, in the flesh or in a group. The height different will make them look silly no matter who they are. Examples... celeb Kim Kardashian and her tall ex-husband Kris Humphries... singer Rod Stewart and wife Penny Lancaster... Bernie Ecclestone and former wife Slavica. If you can't avoid doing this, always make sure you are both sitting. For most tall people the height advantage is only in their legs.

# Shorties should never use devices. Short guy Simon Cowell is renowned for using shoe lifts and tall heels, and draping his trouser cuff on the ground to cover them. He also quiffs his hair up to appear taller. We can see right through his rising antics! But short folk can combat their height better by making sure their jackets are not too long, and wear close fitting outfits so they don't appear 'lost' inside their clothes.

# Short people can appear taller by simply dressing more formally. Instead of wearing a sloppy polo shirt and jeans, men should wear a dress shirt and trousers. It will make a huge difference - they will be taken more seriously. I remember going to a seminar where a prominent business man was speaking. I had only ever seen him in photos, and when he passed by my seat on his way out I was amazed he was only 5'2". 

# Short people are likely to live longer. You rarely see a 6'4'' tall 100 year-old... the long-lived are always short.

So what is the advantage of being tall? OK, tall people may get ahead faster in business. Some studies have shown they earn more in a job. Most execs are tall, most assertive career people are tall. They are likely to climb the corporate ladder faster and get more respect.

And so what is the advantage of being short?

Winning the lottery.

When you win lotto, you are not chosen because of your height, your looks or any other feature. Winning without bias is one of the few advantages in life - no matter who you are, or how tall. Money doesn't choose you on height.
