The Voice Of Reason (Don't Listen To It!)

If you've been reading this blog for a while, you'll know I have some unconventional viewpoints.

In other words, I'm a little crazy :)

But you wouldn't know. I don't wear a bandana, or sport a handlebar mustache, or go round in bare feet.

You wouldn't think I was mentally different to anyone else if you saw me on a street corner.

But under the surface I'm a little bit wacko, a bit left of center. Otherwise why would I be making my fortune selling a lottery system instead of rightfully continuing as a scientist, doctor or lawyer?

One of my long-held beliefs is to aim high for whatever you want. You know the old story - shoot for the moon and even if you miss, you get a few hundred yards further than you expected.

But the secret is to make the goal fit YOU... not what your parents wanted of you, not what the media says you should follow.

My goals aren't the ordinary ones like a sensible mid-range 4-door sedan that I'll keep forever. Or a comfortable retirement in a modest 3 bed home in the burbs.

My aim has always been to break out of the ordinary.

So, I have a large 5 bedroom, 3.5 bath contemporary home on four levels - just for the two of us. It is an architectural design I've not seen anywhere else in the world. Giant 16 ft windows fully cover BOTH sides of our huge 40 ft living area. The view over our harbor is spectacular. My office is the size of a small lounge. (In fact it was the second downstairs lounge which I swiftly grabbed off my wife when we bought 3 years ago).

I own a year-old Lexus hybrid sedan - the flagship model... only 2,000 are made each year - two Mercedes sports cars, and a 4x4 run-around.

What's this got to do with you? ... "Have you finished boasting Ken?" I can hear you saying.

Yes, I'm telling you about my successes because I want to you to realize that if you don't set your goals and ambitions high like me, first - you'll never climb out of the rut you're in now.

And you'll never win lotto, because doing that takes more than luck.

To achieve your goals, like me, you need different qualities than the rest of the also-rans.

You need real persistence coupled with a strong focus.

You need the kind of determination and constant enthusiasm that keeps you plugging along through the bad times. And we've all had rough patches in our lives... mine have probably been worse than yours, believe me. I won't tell you about them - because thinking of them even now, years later, makes my eyes water.

The difference has been how you react and pick yourself up again. That is key.

And unless you have a strong aim and a constant ambition, you'll get nowhere fast.

To do this you have to stop listening to reason.

You need a little craziness. Because all around you'll hear the calm, reassuring voices of reason:

- Get a good education.
- Find a good job and stick to it.
- A medium price gas-saving car is the best.
- You don't need a large house, that's wasteful.
- The government knows best, just do as they say.

These paragons of virtue will knock any enterprise out of you in a New York minute.

There have been times when I haven't been brave enough to step out. For example, at a seminar I attended a while back, the attendees were prevented from parking near the stadium because of a Saturday car fair situated between them and the gate.

Like everyone else at the seminar, I dutifully parked half a mile away and walked the distance.

Yet my 'class mate' parked right outside the stadium door. When I asked him how he did it, he said that he simply explained to the car fair gatekeeper where he needed to go, and he was let through.

We have many people who influence us in our lives. Most of them are there to prevent us doing what we want. Their voices of reason turn us into mild-mannered, meek acceptors of our fate.

If you want to win at lotto, you need to disregard these.

You need to aim high, focus, and persist.

And above all, don't listen to the voices of reason. They will drag you down to their level of mediocrity.

The Perils Of The Hobby Lottery Player

Jeremy's Surprise (And It Wasn't Lotto)

I enlisted in my country's air force a long time ago, back in the dark mists of time. In fact, I celebrated my 21st birthday on my recruit course. I was an official air force photographer, part of an elite group of a couple of dozen others who covered the needs of all three armed services - and did ground and aerial photography for them.

I learned many things in my 10 years in that role, but one of the most interesting things involved crazy Jeremy:

Before I got married, I lived on base. We were a pretty social lot. There was always something going on, and we had a lot of fun.

Except for one person.

For over two years Jeremy stayed in his barrack room and didn't socialize after hours. When he did emerge it was to buy a cup of coffee at the mess, and then disappear again.

For a full two years we saw very little of him while we partied and traveled. We thought he was crazy.

It wasn't until one morning we saw him drive on base in a new Ford Escort car, that we finally knew why he was so anti-social.

For all that time, Jeremy had been saving his wages. He spent not a penny. Month after month he existed on a few dollars a week for essentials, and put the rest into savings for the car.

For over two years!

And so he was the proud owner of a brand new automobile, while most of us had old, secondhand forms of transport (I had a vintage motorbike).

Now, Jeremy's actions were admirable, and we were very jealous. He obviously had a strong will, strong focus and a strong goal. I wouldn't be surprised if he were a very rich person, some 30 years on today.

It's common knowledge that like Jeremy, rich people have two traits that make them successful... and the first is that they are very focused. They don't let anything get in their way, and they know what they want.

The second trait is action. When the pathway to success is made clear to them, they spring into action.

As lotto players, can learn quite a lot from both Jeremy and the rich.

Think about it. Do you have the ability to focus for a long period of time without giving up? This is essential in lotto, when the winnings can be a few weeks away, or even longer. Having the strength of character to persist, to focus and then to carry on when winnings are low is one of the traits that will eventually bring you success.

The second part is to take action. Action drives out indecision. Action with a focus is a very powerful force.

About Your Success

Success in lotto - as with many other things in life - is really quite easy.

"OK, Ken," you say, waving your lotto tickets which only got you $16 last week, "now you've really lost your marbles. Tell me how *easy* it is!"

I will. Here's an example...

My Silver Lotto System has been only a small part of my business career over the last 15 years. In that time I have written marketing and "How-To" books, developed software and website products, and advised and helped others to achieve success in those fields.

PERSISTENCE is the single most important trait anyone can develop - in any part of life.

Whether it's continuing a marriage through thick and thin (richer and poorer), keeping up certain standards for your kids, achieving at your workplace when things get tough, helping the community around you to build a better life... all these things require persistence over a long period of time.

Some years ago a successful software developer dropped out of the internet race. He had been criticized personally on a forum for a view he took, and he decided that it wasn't worth continuing taking the abuse. Now I believe he still does business, but at a very much lower level. His lack of persistence stopped him pushing through the pain barrier and tough periods that we all go through at times. He could have reached amazing success.

Get A Ritual Going

The reason why most people don't win lotto with a system is lack of consistency. As we've seen many times in my newsletters and testimonials, some players have missed out on large winnings simply because they forgot to play.

The answer is to find a way in which your playing is almost automatic. You can do this by selecting future games on your ticket, but because that's prepaid it tends to be a bit expensive initially.

The easiest way is to build rituals into your lotto ticket purchase times. Here's some ideas:

1. Go down to your local lotto shop at the same time each week.
2. Go with the same friend each time.
3. Park in the same spot if you can (or like me, walk - it's better for you).
4. See the same assistant to have your tickets processed.
5. Have a coffee afterwards in the same shop.

These small rituals build on your play tactics so you'll feel as if you're missing out when you don't do it. That gives you an automatic incentive to keep going.

Once you've done this a number of times, it will be easy to continue.

There Is Actually More Than One Path

I'm writing this very quickly before I head off to the dentist in about 10 minutes time.

Over the last week or so I've been very distracted. I have been working on a personal project involving videoconferencing, and now it's almost complete I can get back to business.

But the last week has taught me a lesson: not to concentrate on one area to the exclusion of another. If you look back over my last few posts, you'll notice that they are a day or two apart... I've neglected to post daily.

So the lesson is to look after your main path as well as tending your other secondary paths. The same applies to lotto. It's important to keep your main numbers going each week, but from time to time wander off that path and take another game, or choose a different day to play, or even go in together with someone else.

Mix it up a bit, but don't neglect your main focus.

(My dentist appointment is just for cosmetic adjustment - no pain involved! What a relief)

Real Life And Lotto

I'm amazed at the parallels between lotto and real life. For example:

- There are countless examples of people who achieve success on a huge scale, simply through persistence. They are simple folk, just like you and I. Yet they have succeeded beyond belief simply by continuing to do what they're good at. In a lotto game, it is also long term persistence which eventually wins. Dale Carnegie, author of "How To Win Friends & Influence People" said: "Most of the important things in the world have been accomplished by people who have kept on trying when there seemed to be no hope at all." However, this brings us all to another point...

- Success is not that easy. Because there is no one single rule. In fact, many people who have examined the path that millionaires take have found a huge difference between their methods. Most successes are built up from a number of individual talents as actress Sophia Loren pointed out: "Getting ahead in a difficult profession requires avid faith in yourself. That is why some people with mediocre talent, but with great inner drive, go much further than people with vastly superior talent." You might even say that these talents represent lotto balls, and so you can never be sure which ones will roll down the chute to give the winning path.

- Another example: Along with persistence is continuity. Once again, there seems to be no overnight successes, but success in life is often a chosen path that has been traveled over many years. Benjamin Disraeli: "The secret of success is constancy of purpose." In lotto these are the players who, week after week, play the same numbers until luck catches up with them.

So there's three examples of success: persistence, talent selection, determination. The only factor you have no control over is luck. Or do you?

How A Post-It Note Can Get You Super-Organized

In an earlier post I talked about setting goals in a to-do list with Post-It notes.

But if you're in business, you need to prioritize your life in a more efficient way. So, still using Post-It notes, write down your to-do list, BUT...

... separate out only the items that will make you money. (It's obvious - without money you don't have a business!)

For example, here's my partial list for today:

• - clean office desk
• - scan receipts
• - open mail
• - read goal list
• - complete project 21
• - answer lotto emails

But there's only 1 item on this list that will make me some money, and that's "complete project 21."

I put this target on a single Post-It note and attach it to the side of my computer screen, my wallet, or wherever else I'm going to be today. Each time I have an interruption - for example I'm taking my wife downtown in about 15 minutes - I can return to see the note, and get motivated.

There's only 1 way to be successful in business or lotto, and that is to stay focused. That means:

ONE objective at a time...
ONE game at a time.

Here's A Cure For Boredom

I was in my local supermarket this morning, and I noticed the checkout woman looked a bit depressed. "What's the problem," I asked, as she loaded up the shopping bags for me.

"Boredom," she rolled her eyes.

I suggested she undercharge the next few customers and get a kick out of seeing how excited they were when their groceries only cost a fraction of what they expected. We both laughed over that inane suggestion, but as I left it made me think.

I very rarely get bored. To me, boredom comes from a limited mindset.

A bored person is actually saying they have no control over their circumstances, or no way to improve it.

One of the ways to banish boredom is to have something to look forward to. When you anticipate the freedom of a weekend away, or an event like a birthday or family gathering, this makes the future brighter.

Don't neglect to include the week's Lotto game either. You'll be surprised at how excited I get as Saturday rolls around. There is no greater feeling of anticipation than waiting for your numbers to pop out.

And of course, because my winning odds are so high, I walk away with prizes in every game.

On Monday this week, I watched as all my tickets were checked through the Lotto till machine - no wins - until I could see just one left in the guy's hand. Then, bingo! That was a prize winner.

It's little things like this which add fun to your life - and reduce any boredom.

How To Run The Lotto Race (A Story)

Is your lotto play strategy a snapshot or a video? Let me explain...

Imagine a hare and a tortoise are about to start a race. You are standing trackside with a digital camera. When the starting pistol goes off, you take a photograph which shows both animals neck and neck.

After a few seconds the hare is well ahead. But then the hare sees a carrot on the track and stops to nibble at it. The tortoise plods on, and you take another photo when it is way behind. There's a big gap between them both.

After an hour the tortoise is catching up to the grazing hare. You take another photograph at that point which shows the tortoise passing the eating hare.

After another 10 minutes the hare finishes eating and starts running towards the finishing line. Another photo taken at that moment shows they are way apart, but the hare is gaining. You take the last photograph which shows the tortoise about to cross the line and the hare just behind in second place.

However, the hare flashes past to win.

Now, let's spread these photographs out on the table and look at the results closely.

In each picture the tortoise and hare are either winning or losing... but either by just a whisker - or by plain 'ol big time! Yet these photos have no bearing on the actual race. You would not know who was actually winning at any time.

Now what would have happened if you used a video camera instead? Then you would see the actual race as it happened. You would notice the various times the hare and tortoise crossed paths, and seen in real time who was ahead or behind at any stage.

It's exactly the same for playing lotto with the Silver Lotto System.

If you only play a few times a year without my system, then every game will be just like taking a snapshot photo of your play. Some times you may win big, others times you won't. You won't really know where you are in the race. And when you look back at your snapshots, sometimes the gap between winning and losing would be so far apart you wonder why you are even playing.

But what if you raced right to the end... if you played all the time... in many games?

It would be just like using a video camera. Now it's all different because you'll see the real race where big gaps in winning don't matter - because you're in the race until the winning end.

What's the moral of this long story?

Persist, keep playing regularly... and don't give up when the winning gap seems too big. It's not really. Because it all depends on HOW you see the race, and WHEN you see the results.

(Notice I didn't ask whether you were a hare or a tortoise :-) That's because it doesn't matter - you'll always get there in the end with my help!)

How To Banish Worries, Debts & Problems For Good

I put quite a lot of emphasis on writing down your goals to accelerate your success, whether they are for unstructured events like lotto - or more detailed ones like buying your next home.

But did you know you could also use this goal setting system to fix your short-term worries as well?

The solution works on the principle that you can't hold too many problems in your head. It leads to you becoming unfocused, as often your problems overwhelm you to the point that you are negatively hypnotized... so you don't do anything about them.

Here's what I've found works very effectively...

The act of writing your problems down plays a hugely important part in allowing the subconcious part of your brain to work on a solution. But you can speed up the process quite dramatically this way:

1. Make a list of all your short-term worries, in no particular order. I use my computer's sticky notes in Outlook 2003 (graphic above).

2. Prioritize them. Number the most pressing, urgent and necessary problems, starting with 1.

3. Take just item number 1 and write it down on a physical Post-It note. I find the yellow ones work for me.

4. Display the note where you can see it several times a day. It can be on the screen of your computer, near your keyboard, on your refrigerator... anywhere that you see it often.

Now work solely on this problem. Don't think about the rest. Work on this single problem until it is solved. Only then take the next problem - number 2 - and do the same with that.

Obviously you have to figure out what kind of problems will fit into this solving solution. If you have a long-term and complex problem, obviously this won't work... you can't put the rest on the back burner while you take a year to figure out your first one. Use common sense in listing and prioritizing your problems.

But the end result is a peaceful mind, and your problems solved quicker than you have ever imagined.

Meeting Someone Important?

One of the many daily web sites I read is http://www.earlytorise.com/. And today an article discussed how to meet an important person when that person was engaged talking with someone else.

After some discussion, this was the result: Walk away.

That's right... they took the advice of renowned etiquette dictator Emily Post, and recommend you walk away. Find another time to meet this person, they said, so you don't rudely interrupt their current situation.

I hugely disagree. To walk away in these circumstances is to give up the opportunity of a lifetime, possibly.

Look at it this way. Let's say you wanted to win lotto, but you knew there were thousands of others competing for the top prize.

What do the losers do? That's right... they think the odds are against them, and they give up and walk away.

This article should be a wake-up call for you. Nothing can ever be accomplished by walking away.

Every opportunity must be seized at the moment and worked on proactively. Only this way will you ever achieve anything.

To bring up a long-running example, Thomas Edison made thousands of trials before he invented the incandescent lamp. Just think what would have happened if the first experiment hadn't worked and he had walked away.

The only way you can win is to take part, persist, and never give up.

Never walk away.
