Charting Our Alexa Lotto Blog Progress

Every day I check out my lotto websites readership statistics in a number of places. This tells me where I've been, and hopefully where I'm going.

But the chart above from my Google Analytics interested me today. It details the number of people who are returning to this lotto blog. While the figure may not mean much to you, I've watched the percentage of returning readers climb dramatically - from about 5% at the beginning to nearly 50% now.

This is good, since it shows me that I'm writing material that is interesting enough for you to come back. So thanks. It helps me in my target to reach position 20,000 on the Alexa toolbar.

At the moment we are at 655,408. That means we have still a way to go, but if you read this previous post about Alexa, you'll see we've already gained over 100,000 places since then, and are making steady progress. Slow but sure... ain't that the way!

The Banned Blogger Rides Again!

Four days ago Blogger (as Google, the host of this blog) sent me an automated email saying they had been given indications through my writing style that my blog was spam.

Sheesh! Ignorant spambots. Just because I write enthusiastically about lotto!

So they banned me from writing further until they could review it personally and give me a go/no-go. If the result was negative, all my posts simce 2005 would be removed. That's a lot of posts.

Fortunately I have backups, but I didn't fancy doing them all again through some other blog program like Wordpress or Typepad.

So I crossed my fingers.

And just a few minutes ago I had the all-clear from Blogger. Whew!

It's interesting to me that by using Blogger I am violating all my self-imposed rules by not having full control over everything I do. Call me dumb.

But the convenience of this blogging program overrides that concern, so I'll continue until they mess with me again. Then I'll review my action again. Until then, happy reading!
